The best word to describe Spirit I is versatile. The unique design will support any form factor up to 5.25". The rails, another unique design of Spirit I, hold the drive secure, providing dampening-critical for today's drive. In addition the fixture is designed to Link the desired interface/power connection using the interlink card. Changing between interfaces such as SCSI, IDE and Fibre Channel can be done in a matter of seconds. Simply lift the interlink card from the fixture and replace it with the appropriate one. A great feature for the manufacturing floor where ease of maintenance is essential. While loading, the self-centering feature assures the drive properly seats with the connectors. Removal is also mechanized and greatly reduces the possibility of damage during unloading. Movement of the actuator lever by the operator begins a two-phase mechanical cycle. During the first cycle, the gripper rails secure the drive. The second cycle continues the drive forward (a mear 8mm) until mated with the connectors on the interlink card.
